Job Description

The Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Tarleton's employee wellness initiatives, from program planning and development to implementation and evaluation. Reporting to the Director, this position independently manages the planning and execution of wellness initiatives, collaborates with various campus departments and external vendors, and ensures effective communication of wellness programs to the Tarleton community.

Under guidance, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for organizing, administering and compliance of Tarleton State University's official employee wellness program. This position plays a pivotal role in promoting holistic well-being and work-life balance among faculty and staff by organizing wellness education, coordinating events, managing communications, and supporting budgetary efforts. The Wellness Coordinator is the position identified and appointed as the Tarleton “Wellness Champion” to the Texas A&M System Benefits Administration. The Wellness Coordinator works collaboratively with campus /community partners to creatively utilize targeted wellness programs and activities to help to cultivate a culture of employee wellbeing and to improve employee engagement and retention.

In-office position located in Stephenville, Texas with work hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm or as work requirements indicate. Occasional travel and evening and/or weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

General Wellness Programming:

Under the general supervision of the Director, independently perform complex program planning and development, implementation, and evaluation of Tarleton employee wellness based on a comprehensive and evidence-based knowledge of health and wellness. Strategically plans and implement wellness education including workshops, seminars, events, activities, and/or programs on special interest topics as needed to address holistic well-being and work-life balance for faculty and staff.

Coordinate and host health fairs and other wellness events, including collaboration with various campus departments and external health service vendors and local businesses. Responsible for annual review, editing, and administration of the Wellness Release Time policy. Ensure successful implementation of campus wellness efforts through data analysis. Provide summary reports for decision making purposes.

Marketing/Communications :

Plan, coordinate and execute the communication plan for Tarleton’s wellness program, including development of marketing and communication materials for employee wellness initiatives including but not limited to website content, print materials, and electronic and social media. Develop creative and strategic messages to brand Tarleton’s wellness program.

Budget: Supports the Director with the wellness program budget from Chancellors Wellness Initiative grant funding (reporting due annually). Assists with preparation of the annual report and budget proposal for the Chancellor’s Wellness initiative. Identifies opportunities for future funding and may develop grant proposals for submission.

Miscellaneous Support : Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience.

    Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, or a related field.

  • Two years of experience coordinating community recreation, wellness, or fitness programs.

  • Experience managing multiple projects/tasks and keeping pace with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.

    Knowledge and Skills

    Required:

    Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

    Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

    Requires ability to work with diverse groups of people.

    Verbal and written communication skills.

    Preferred:

    Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.

    Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    High degree of self-initiative and ability to think and work independently.

    Excellent project management skills.

    Ability to problem-solve, set priorities, and exercise good judgment.

    Other Requirements - Occasional travel and evening and/or weekend hours.

Salary

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary is $53,745 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
