Job Description

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (http://www.tarleton.edu/coanr/) invites candidates to apply for Farm Foreman II. This position is t emporary based on the needs of the University.

The Farm Foreman II, under the direction of the Farm Manager, supervises and participates in the work at the Southwest Regional Dairy Center, including the maintenance of effluent and solid waste levels and ensuring governmental compliance. First-line assistant to the Farm Manager in accomplishing the goals of the dairy, by providing resources for laboratory, research, and community service. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate.

Responsibilities:

  • 35% Maintain effluent and solid waste at compliant levels

  • 20% Ensure compliance with government agencies, specifically TCEQ, with regard to the environment and maintain daily environmental compliance records

  • 15% Procure routine supplies necessary for dairy, equipment maintenance, and irrigation system

  • 15% Supervise student labor in daily activities associated with waste management and facility and equipment maintenance

  • 10% Assist faculty and/or graduate assistants in research projects

  • 5% Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.Four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree, preferably in the Agriculture or Environmental Sciences

Preferred, strong mechanical background

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of dairies and effluent and solid waste distribution

Knowledge of livestock and crop production Ability to multitask

Ability to work cooperatively with others

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Other Requirements: Ability to lift moderately heavy objects

Work beyond normal business hours and/or weekends
