Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the non-profit industry, located in Staten Island, New York. This role involves a myriad of accounting responsibilities and will require the ability to navigate varying reporting mechanisms, invoicing processes, and regulatory requirements. As a Sr. Accountant, you will be expected to manage the general ledger, assist in fiscal grant management, and contribute to the monthly closing process of our organization.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review city and state vouchers, funders reports and program budgets

• Allocate and track expenses to contracts ensuring expenditures are properly accounted for

• Prepare budget to actual reports for grants and contracts for review with senior program staff

• Oversee banking matters including daily positive pay exceptions, wire transfers, and cash balance reporting

• Analyze monthly revenue into the general ledger from respective billing systems

• Lead the processing of biweekly payroll in the payroll system and review payroll edit reports

• Analyze monthly and quarterly payroll reports and ensure reconciliation with the general ledger

• Assist in updating fiscal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with fiscal operations

• Assist with the preparation for agency-wide financial audits as well as audits by grant agencies

• Reconcile accounts receivable to respective subsidiary ledgers and review collectability of receivables

• Audit Petty Cash and Metro Card requests

• Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed as per organizational policy and procedure manuals.

Skills Required:

• SAP Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Demonstrable experience with general ledger and journal entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in month-end closing procedures

• Familiarity with Oracle and SAP software

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis

• Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
