*Position Summary: *

Our dedicated staff provide comprehensive supports for nearly 50,000 children and families in targeted, under-resourced New York City neighborhoods. We know what it takes to ensure children grow up strong and healthy, and ready to thrive in school and life: excellent education and health care, social-emotional support, and strong, stable families.

The I.S. 61 Program Director will be responsible for the oversight of out of school programming for middle school children.

*Responsibilities: *

Ensure High Quality programs

  • Design and implement programs for after school that are in compliance with contracts.

  • Work with Principal and Regional office to ensure that all programs align with school goals

  • Work with Principal and Custodial staff to ensure that all safety and cleanliness standards are met.

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the program.

  • Develop relationships and work with parents to ensure the positive involvement of youth

Staff Development

  • Hire, supervise and evaluate staff

  • Design and provide training for staff that help to establish core competencies and standards of excellence

Program Monitoring and Tracking Outcomes

  • Coordinate and maintain*registration materials for program participants*

  • Utilize tracking and monitoring system to track progress towards program goals. Analyze statistical data of program participants.

  • Complete all required reports

Operations

  • Order and maintain recreational supplies

  • Attend staff development and trainings as needed

  • Attend all relevant agency staff meetings

  • Assist in the development of budgets

  • Assume any other duties and responsibilities on an emergency basis

*Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education or other related field require, Master’s degree preferred

  • 3-5 years experience working with youth, in or out of school required

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines
