Job Description Summary

Support the execution of Service projects carrying out, maintenance, repair, and extensions within the HV Substation & Power Station environment and enabling continual improvement of SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost) targets.

  • Responsibilities:

  • This is an excellent opportunity to join GE Renewable Energy in the UK on a four-year Apprenticeship Programme carrying out Installation & Maintenance of HV Switchgear and associated equipment, which makes up part of the national infrastructure. On completion of the programme successful candidates will have completed a Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) level 3 apprenticeship and subsequent End Point Assessment (EPA).

  • Be diligent, punctual and behave in a responsible manner in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety legislation relating to the apprentice’s responsibilities as an individual and always promote the Company’s best interests.

  • Have an unwavering drive and dedication to achieve and maintain targets set out in the apprenticeship framework with an end goal of gaining Construction Field Service Technician status.

  • Undertake training, attend courses, and carry out such work as may be required, within the relevant time scales and deadlines, to achieve the selected framework outcomes specified in the apprentice’s personal training plan.

  • For the duration of the apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience and develop theoretical knowledge, whilst obtaining formal qualifications which are recognised and fully transferable within the industry.

  • You will perform multiple aspects of engineering to the highest quality. Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to accurately follow work process instructions.

  • You will have a keen sense of achievement and take pride in the work you undertake and produce. The ability to work efficiently within a team is essential.

  • This role will include extensive travel across the UK and potentially overseas, once the education element of the apprenticeship is complete.

Criteria

Education / professional experience

  • Five GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C (4 in the new system) or above which must include Maths, English and Science.

Language(s):

  • English

Technical knowledge and skills

  • Be comfortable working at heights and confined spaces.

  • Possess a strong commitment and enthusiasm to the role and the apprenticeship.

  • Have a confident personality with good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Be highly self-motivated, be able to work in a small team and independently.

  • Have good problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience of common Microsoft packages and good IT skills.

  • High degree of flexibility, extremely motivated with the ability to work under pressure.

  • Be happy working away from home and travelling UK wide, and possibly overseas when required.
