Dedicated to connecting people who need life-saving blood with generous volunteers who give, we provide a stable supply of blood and blood components to hospital partners throughout Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisconsin. With decades of experience collecting, testing, and distributing more than 3 million units of blood, we also provide state-of-the-art laboratory services and biomedical expertise to hospital and clinic partners, national blood centers, biotechnology companies, research institutions, and international clients. Responsibilities Summary: As a Supply and Demand Planning Intern at New York Blood Center Enterprises, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring the efficient planning of consumable supplies to meet the blood operations and laboratory needs. In this role, you will collaborate with blood operations and laboratory departments, as well as Enterprise Analytics and Data Sciences teams to optimize inventory levels, forecast demand accurately, and enhance supply chain efficiency. Reporting directly to the Supply and Demand Planning Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the organization's mission to provide a safe and sufficient blood supply to hospitals and medical facilities in the region. Job Responsibilities: Analyze historical demand patterns, seasonal trends, future growth projections, and operational inputs to develop accurate demand forecasts for consumable supplies used in blood collections and laboratory manufacturing processes. Work closely with Enterprise Analytics and Data Sciences (EADS) team to leverage advanced analytics and predictive modeling for improved demand forecasting and decision-making. Learn the basics of blood product manufacturing. Develop a knowledge of how the operation departments and laboratories work together to ensure a safe blood supply. Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on metrics related to inventory turnover, stockouts, and forecast accuracy. Qualifications Education: Actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Data Science, Healthcare Management, or a related field. Experience: Experience using data analytics and visualization software. Knowledge of SQL, Python, or another database programming language preferable. Other: Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and suppliers. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously. Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
