GENERAL PURPOSE The Business Intelligence & Performance team at Legrand AV manages and delivers insights about company data, enabling our executive-level stakeholders and businesses to make informed decisions. We are currently in search of a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer, specializing in establishing a common analytics framework and best practices using the Microsoft Azure stack. As a Senior BI Developer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of robust and scalable business intelligence solutions to support data-driven decision-making. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, you will understand requirements, optimize data structures, and deliver high-quality BI solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Power BI and SQL, coupled with a deep understanding of data integration methodologies. Experience working with various source data systems such as SAP, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and file-based sources is highly desired. This role demands the ability to architect and design scalable and efficient data solutions, develop complex datasets and measures, and provide technical guidance to the team. RESPONSIBILITIES Act as the primary team point of contact for everything Power BI. Participate in the full lifecycle of BI development, from requirements gathering to end-user support. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and data engineers to translate requirements into effective insights via reports and visualizations. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions, leveraging data warehousing, and analytics architecture principles. Experience utilizing/writing complex SQL for data extraction, transformation, and loading, optimizing performance and efficiency. Perform data analysis and profiling to identify data quality issues, data anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Design and optimize data models and dimensional structures for efficient reporting, analysis, and data visualization. Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI; knowledge of other industry-leading BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Domo, and Looker is a plus. Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to ensure the BI infrastructure performance, availability, and security. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in BI and data analytics. Maintain version control and own the change and release management process. Define processes, standard operating procedures, and prepare technical documentation. Mentor and provide technical guidance to other members of the BI development team. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Perform other duties as necessary. REQUIREMENTS Expert in designing and creating data visualizations and reports using MS Power BI. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex data sets and identify insights and patterns. Need to be versed in security, setting up workspaces, creating data models, the cubes to support the data modeling, and understanding the limitations of the tool. Power Query experience and using APIs to transfer data if needed. Solid understanding of DAX with significant experience coding complex DAX expressions. Advanced knowledge of SQL, comfortable writing and debugging SQL queries and extracting from Azure SQL Server; knowledge of diverse data stores and data integration tools is a plus (Azure Databricks, Snowflake, Data Factory, Matillion, etc.). Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in data modeling, data architecture, and DW design. Experience working with various source data systems such as SAP, Salesforce, and file-based. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and effectively interact wi h stakeholders at all levels. Proven experience in mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior team members. Minimum Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered. 7+ years of proven experience as a Business Intelligence Developer, Data Engineer, or similar role with a focus on SQL development, data warehousing, and analytics architecture. Demonstrated experience developing compelling and effective data visualizations (capturing core KPIs).
