HealthPartners is currently hiring for a Senior Cloud and Platform Engineer - Virtuwell. The engineer works within a high energy, self-directed team, often pairing, to build and operate internal cloud and other platforms. The engineer codes and tests automated solutions with a focus on providing optimal platforms. It also maintains and operates platforms with high uptime requirements and works across all system layers with a focus on enablement, continuous innovation, and adaptation. We're seeking engineers with a passion for observability, automation, high availability, continuous improvement, and quality code. As a senior level staff member, it will mentor junior staff as part of the team's continuous learning environment and will often represent the team as a subject matter expert. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field 6+ years of experience in software development 4+ years of operations experience Exceptional understanding of software principals and ability to code. Exceptional understanding of automation and how to apply it to remove barriers and increase reliability. Strong understanding and experience with architecting, designing, and automating within a public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure). Understanding of Cloud principles. Demonstrated experience with cloud technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, Kafka, Nutanix and others are highly valued. Understanding of use and operation of tools like Bit Bucket, GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub/GitHub Actions, Confluence, Bamboo Experience with Scripting like bash, Python or similar. Experience with, Ansible, Jenkins. Experience with SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Understanding of infrastructure like storage, networking, routing, firewall, load balancers, DNS, operating systems, VMs. Understanding of architectures such as Micro services, SOA, J2EE, Enterprise Service Bus. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies. Excellent ability to communicate complex ideas in written and verbal forms. Proven ability to work in an Agile environment. Hours/Location: M-F; Days Position may work remotely but will prefer local/regional candidates for occasional onsite needs. Will join a weekly on-call rotation (approximately every 8th week). Accountabilities: Automates relentlessly, following continuous integration/continuous delivery practices. Participates in the development and communication of DevOps principles and activities. Installs, automates, and operates tools that enable our developers and systems. Deploys, scales, and runs distributed software at scale, understanding service dependencies. Monitors application performance and exposes metrics for everyone. Designs and conducts platform/application tests, including functionality, availability, load/stress and performance. Troubleshoots development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms. Participates within high availability and disaster recovery testing. Creates documentation required for smooth operation. Participates in a team environment which thrives on transparency and trust. Guides and mentors junior-level staff. Participates in a rotating on-call pool. Performs other duties as assigned.
