Ever-Green Energy is looking for a team member to provide leadership to all areas of the accounting operations including financial reporting, audit process, budgeting and planning, tax filings and transactional support, and provide work direction to members of the accounting team. Report and interpret the results of operations for 15 companies under management with combined total revenues under management of over $155,000,000. If this sounds like you, you may be the right candidate for our Controller role in St. Paul, MN. Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or related field. Ten years accounting experience. At least 5 years with a CPA. Five years managing accounting operations. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Experience with accounting systems and expertise in creating financial reports. Familiarity with tax law and experience with income tax preparation and planning. Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, including demonstrated presentation skills. Effective interpersonal and team skills. Effective project management skills. Must be able to work independently and use own judgment/discretion. Ability to effectively manage time, multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft suite of software and ERP systems. Ability to work with and understand a variety of people who have different needs and different levels of understanding of our business. Provide leadership and professionally interact with leadership team, staff, customers, and vendors to effectively accomplish goals in compliance with company policies and procedures. Preferred Skills: Public accounting. Experience working in a multiple company/entity environment. Experience with non-profit accounting and 990 reporting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Provide leadership to the financial statement preparation process for all systems under management, including administering and maintaining general ledgers and financial statements reporting templates. Ensure external financial statements comply with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee the preparation of internal management reports and monthly analysis. Participate in routine monthly business review process for systems under management. Maintain integrity of the accounting software programs and files related to accounting functions to ensure accurate date is provided to all systems under management. Investigate opportunities for improvements or future automation of existing accounting, budgeting, and reporting systems. Oversee coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring audit issues are resolved and compliance standards are achieved and the annual financial statements and supplementary schedules and information are in accordance with US GAAP. Budgeting and Planning: Participate in business planning for systems under management. Participate in goal setting for the systems. Work with the CFO and SVP of Accounting to manage the Company's annual budgeting and forecasting process. Maintain a high-level rolling forecast for the Company. Build in capabilities to do "what-if" scenarios for business trend changes, future growth, and sensitivity analysis. Tax: Coordinate preparation of annual tax planning and reporting (1120 and related state returns and 990) with CPA firm, providing all requested information for return preparation and quarterly estimates. Ensure compliance with all sales and use tax in all jurisdictions in which the Company operates. Transaction Support: Review and approve vendor invoices and payroll documents prior to payment. Oversee credit and collections. Act as a liaison between Company and customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies as necessary. Oversee the purchasing to pay accounting function including online treasury management systems, monitor cash flow needs to ensure necessary cash balances are maintained. Ensure purchasi g authority approvals are implemented. Coordinate accounting functions and systems to ensure Company assets are safeguarded, operating efficiencies are obtained and effective internal controls are in place. Lead documentation of accounting policies and procedures. General Management: Collaborate and work effectively with all levels of management and staff to ensure budget adherence, smooth operations, and quick resolution of issues. Work with peers to execute the mission, goals, and priorities and key performance measures of the business. Perform other duties as assigned. Occasional travel may be required.
