Whirlwind Steel Buildings, Inc Metal Building Estimator/Buildings Division in St. Louis, Missouri

The Estimator is a critical position within Whirlwind Building Systems.  Estimators are responsible for providing accurate and competitive building quotes in a timely manner while following standard company practices and procedures.  Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project.  This is a sales support position; providing assistance to Whirlwind’s District Sales Managers and Project Managers for commercial, heavy industrial, conventional and hybrid projects. This is a remote position. Talents: * Possess a strong attention to detail * Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere * Possess strong written and verbal communications skills * Self-motivated and possesses objective-based work philosophy * Strong desire to meet or exceed company and department goals * Willingness to work extra hours as required by business need * Demonstrates the desire and initiative for personal and professional growth   Skills: Computer skills: * Experience with Metal Building Software (MBS) estimating program is desirable, but not required * Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook Effective communication skills including: * Listening and questioning * Professionally communicate in both written and verbal form * Clearly and efficiently documents information received Basic math skills including but not limited to: * Fractions * Decimals * Basic Geometry Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings Ability to interpret specifications and identify exclusions or qualifications as required Comfortable with composing contractual language to clearly define the scope of work Expectations: * Thoroughly review proposals and ask follow up questions. * Thoroughly review drawings and specifications and ask follow up questions. * Review Design changes and modify quote accordingly. * Obtain subcontractor or vendor buy-outs. * Have complete understanding of the scope prepared for each proposal. * Provide all supporting documentation related to a signed contract to the Sales and Project Management teams in a timely manner. * Review plans, specifications, and designs with Sales and Project Management teams to highlight areas of concern. * Review job cost with Sales and Project Management teams and highlight any buy outs that still need to be awarded. * Generate a Quotation/Contract Form that is complete and ready to send to the customer. The Quotation/Contract Form will include the entire scope of the material and services being provided by Whirlwind.  Exclusions and qualifications to specific items not provided by Whirlwind are considered to be part of a completed Quotation/Contract. * IResearch and maintain technological excellence in work environment. * Exhibit a clean cut and professional appearance - business casual. * Punctuality regarding reports, goals, and other duties to be performed. * Develops, maintains and fosters a positive "can-do" attitude concerning the job and our company with both customers and fellow employees. * Initiates and promotes teamwork concepts. * Develops, improves and maintains communication skills with others.
