Description

As a Logistics Specialist, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the efficient flow of goods and materials within the supply chain. You will play a crucial role in coordinating logistics operations, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely delivery of products to internal and external customers. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously will contribute to the success of the logistics department. Proficiency in using and operating a Transportation Management System (TMS) will be an essential component of your role.

Responsibilities:

Utilize Transportation Management System (TMS):

  • Effectively use and operate a TMS to plan, execute, and track shipments throughout the supply chain.

  • Coordinate with carriers, suppliers & internal stakeholders to arrange transportation and ensure efficient logistics operations.

  • Monitor and update the TMS with relative information on carrier performance and transportation metrics.

Coordinate Shipping and Transportation:

  • Track shipments within the TMS, monitor transportation costs, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

  • Resolve any issues or delays related to transportation within the TMS and implement corrective actions as required.

Optimize Supply Chain Processes:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve logistics processes enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Identify bottlenecks, streamline procedures, and implement best practices.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) within the TMS to measure the effectiveness of logistics operations.

  • Implement and maintain appropriate systems, including the TMS, to support logistics activities.

Coordinate with Internal and External Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the supply chain.

  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues regarding logistics procedures and requirements within the TMS.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive operational success.

Ensure Freight Bill Pay and Audit Compliance:

  • Contribute and help resolve freight bill pay and audit process & issues

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.

  • 1-2 years of proven work experience in logistics coordination preferred

  • Understanding of supply chain processes and logistics operations.

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask/and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong decision making skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel along with the ability to learn new software and systems

  • Experience utilizing a Transportation Management System a plus
