WSP USA Marine Biologist in St. John's, Newfoundland

WSP is looking for a Marine Biologist to join our team in St. John’s, NL. The successful candidate will work within the Marine Sciences Group, under the supervision of the Group Coordinator.

Primary responsibilities will include the marine environmental survey data analysis and reporting on a variety of projects, as delegated by the Group Coordinator. Other opportunities may arise to help other groups under the St. John’s office, such as the Natural Sciences Group.

Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based at the project site in St. John’s, NL.

Key responsibilities/requirements will include experience in:

  • Marine survey analytics and reporting

  • Assistance in reporting and environmental assessment

  • Able to work effectively as a member of a team, and/or independently with minimal supervision and direction

  • Able to demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum M.Sc. level University Degree in Biology or Environmental Science

  • 3-5 years’ experience in offshore monitoring/sampling programs

  • Underwater visual data review for marine habitat and species characterization

  • Relevant technical or regulatory experience from the consulting industry

Asset Qualifications:

  • Certified in MED-DVS or equivalent within the last five years

  • Statistical analytics in R and PRIMER
