    About the Role:

    The selected candidate for the IFF SCA Engineering Technician IV position will perform a broad spectrum of technical work involving the AN/UPX-29(V) IFF system. Specific examples of expected tasking are as follows:

  • Conduct pre-installation checkouts (PICO) on board United States Navy Ships in support of upcoming ship alterations.

  • Perform shipboard installations as part of the alteration installation team in accordance with the TS9090.310.

  • Provide training to shipboard IFF system technicians with NEC 1571/1572 (V06B/V07B) on the AN/UPX-29(V) system upgrades.

  • Provide technical services in support of the AN/UPX-29(V) Interrogator System during grooms, Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT), Material Condition Assessments (MCA), and Aegis Light-Off Assessments (ALOA).

  • Interface directly with ship’s force department heads to provide high level status updates and recommend corrective action.

  • Serve as a technical liaison and provide technical support to the United States Navy for the AN/UPX-29(V) IFF system.

  • Review engineering change proposals (ECP) for accuracy and applicability.

    Must be willing to travel to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events and will work on-board ships to accomplish assignments. Will exert frequent energy, such as climbing to go aloft for antenna inspections and lifting/carrying heavy objects. May be required to work overtime hours or weekends to support installations and test events and will occasionally perform work in disagreeable environmental conditions.

    The assigned work will include assisting other technicians and working on projects involving Combat Identification equipment including Mark XII and Mark XIIA systems. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite government customers.

    Must haves:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 6 years of experience working with United States Navy combat systems.

  • NEC 1571 (V06B) or equivalent AN/UPX-29(V) course or experience

  • NEC 1572 (V07B) or equivalent AIMS system technician

  • Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance

  • Ability to climb aloft for antenna maintenance and lift/carry heavy objects

    Contract Specific Experience

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - 10 hour certified

  • Certified solder technician specializing in SMT, lead free and through-hole

  • Certified quality assurance inspector

  • Certified cable fabricator
