LOCATION: Various locations TYPE OF POSITION: Hours based on seasonal and program needs Flexible hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends Hours may vary based on building/program needs QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Must be at least 15 years of age Must hold current CPR-PR, First Aid, WSI certifications Must have leadership, decision-making and public relations skills Preferred: Lifeguard certification SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching St. Cloud Community Education Aquatics Program. SALARY: Starts at $15.50/hr PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain accurate records Communicate with public Show professionalism Maintain Confidentiality KNOWLEDGE: Basic principles and practices in assigned area of responsibility Basic data collection and documentation skills English language, grammar, and punctuation SKILLS: Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: swimming, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan and organize personal class teaching outlines, methods and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by the St. Cloud Community Education Aquatics Program. Organize and direct activities for assigned classes in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all students. Enforce pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities. Establish positive public relations with parents/guardians of class students and help them recognize and understand swimming developments and achievements. Resolve simple public concerns in matters related to swimming instruction and refer other concerns to a supervisor. Provide for the health and safety of participants including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and the material and equipment are safe and put away. Complete and submit appropriate records and documentation of completed lesson to the Community Education Aquatics Lead. Maintain fitness level (swimming skills, strength, and endurance) Promote a positive and cooperative image of St. Cloud School District 742 Community Education to the public Arrange to have a substitute 48 hours in advance if you will be absent Report to work prepared and ready to begin work at the start of your scheduled shift, properly groomed and wearing proper attire Additional duties as assigned All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, students and parents and to model and promote a welcoming working and learning environment.
