St Cloud School District 742 Activities/Athletic Coordinator in St. Cloud, Minnesota

TYPE OF POSITION: Extracurricular Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Building Principals, High School Activities Director SUPERVISION: Junior High Coaches, Volunteers (under the direction of the Activities Director) QUALIFICATIONS: Required Bachelor's Degree in education, administration or related field Knowledge of sporting activities management and event programs Experience working with junior high-school students Preferred Two years' experience working with junior high-school children in an organized sports setting Current licensed District 742 staff POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Junior High School Principal and the High School Activities Director, the Junior High School Athletics Coordinator is responsible for effectively organizing and supervising Junior High School athletics (grades 6-8) while providing leadership to all coaches and advisors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Communicates information to the Junior High Principal and other appropriate people regarding day-to-day operations including: staff updates; advisory meetings; parent, advisor and participant concerns; inclement weather situations; and other issues related to academic athletic programs Conducts open houses, information meetings and parent/athlete communications regarding athletic programs to maximize participation in programs by all students Coordinates all facility use for junior high school athletics, including all practices and rehearsals Coordinates schedules and contracts for junior high school athletics Responsible for contacting officials for all junior high athletics Coordinates transportation for all junior high school athletics Conducts pre-season, periodic and post-season coaches/advisor meetings Performs post-season evaluation of all junior high school coaches/advisors, shares evaluation with High School Activities Director and Junior High Principal with a copy to the personnel file in Human Resources Assists High School Activities Director in developing junior high school athletics budget and fundraising activities Prepares equipment for each season and maintains inventory of all equipment used in junior high school athletics programs Recommends needed capital equipment improvements and maintenance of junior high school facilities to High School Activities Director Assists High School Activities Director with the process of reviewing athletic offerings, interest surveys and expansion or reduction of junior high school athletic programs for District consistency Attend District Activity meetings as scheduled by High School Activities Director Informs High School Activities Director of coaching vacancies and works with Junior High Principal and varsity head coaches to fill vacancies in consultation with the High School Activities Director Assures background checks and on-boarding/orientation processes are completed for all junior high coaches/advisors prior to them working with students Supervises home events Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, bending, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing Occasional: lifting, physical restraints SALARY: $13,500 stipend per academic year Coordinator may coach up to one sport at the Junior High to which he/she is assigned for an additional $1,000 stipend for the coaching duties Coordinator may coach up to one sport at the High School Level and will be eligible for compensation for the coaching duties under the Extra Pay Schedule of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the School District and the SCEA; in this event the Coordinator's stipend will be reduced by $3,000 and the Junior High Principal will be authorized to use those funds to hire support for the athletics program as needed Position not eligible for any other pay under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the SCEA All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, studen s and parents and to model and promote a welcoming working and learning environment.
