Boyd Gaming ENGINEER II in St. Charles, Missouri

What would I be doing?

The Engineer II fulfills general maintenance duties and/or repairs in the areas of plumbing, lighting, landscaping and carpentry; may perform manual work necessary to maintain the property standard of facility, grounds, casino and/or hotel; provides routine support duties to higher level staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment.

Responsibilities

  • The Engineer II delivers superior internal and external guest service in Boyd Style by ensuring every interaction includes our Six Core Service Standards (Look sharp, smile and greet the guest; Be friendly, polite and use courteous language; Provide especially timely and knowledgeable service and then some; Always find solutions to guests’ problems; Use the guest’s name when appropriate; Thank the guest and invite him or her back.); and work harmoniously with fellow team members.

  • Performs maintenance, repairs and support functions related to a variety of trades (i.e. electrical, lighting, grounds, galley repair, HVAC, carpentry, and painting); completes a variety of task which includes re-lamping, plumbing installation & repair, replacement of restroom stalls, partitions & related hardware, cleans drains, general mechanical repairs, general cleaning primarily at work location, mechanical & shop spaces, transports & sets up of furniture, signage, stanchions, fixtures, parts and other items as needed; works with and/or trains under other Engineers in the performance of daily job assignments as assigned.

  • The Engineer II maintains service levels to ensure service calls from the guest are resolved within a timely manner.

  • Perform basic electrical work by pulling cable, replacing outlets and lights while following direction from higher level engineers; conducts preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and other electrical equipment.

  • The Engineer II upkeeps and maintains toilets/urinals by replacing and troubleshooting of sensors, cleaning clogged drains throughout the property.

  • Services and maintains irrigation systems; ensures drip systems are properly working to provide water to plants and trees.

  • The Engineer II walks offices, hotel and parking areas routinely to ensure adequate lighting in all areas; operates a variety of lifts to replaces lights throughout property.

  • Services kitchen equipment and various coolers by maintaining coolers and systems, checking thermostats, changes machine belts, changes gas lines, cleans drains & sinks and replacing gas lines & valves; changes filters on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

  • The Engineer II assists in cleaning all public and back of the house areas; assists with the set up and removal of marketing, special function or promotional events.

  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the fields of electrical, lighting, grounds, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.

  • The Engineer II will identify, evaluate and ensure worksite conditions and practices are safe to the team members and guests; provide or seek assistance in safeguarding area while maintaining compliance with all regulations.

  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

What are we looking for?

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent plus three (3) years’ experience in environmental services, building maintenance, mechanical or a related trade

  • Graduation from an accredited trade school with a focus on machinery, mechanics or general maintenance and beginner level experience in Microsoft Office is desirable

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of:

  • Operations, services and activities of a facility, lighting, plumbing, painting, carpentry and maintenance operations

  • Knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations

  • Knowledge of building system functions and inspection techniques

  • Methods and techniques of both rough an finished carpentry

  • Knowledge of electric voltage and its application to items under repair

  • Methods and techniques of equipment and tool operation and preventative maintenance

  • Safety hazards as related to work assignments related to team members and guest

  • Customer service techniques; identify, evaluate and ensure worksite conditions and practices are safe to the team members and guests

  • Provide or seek assistance in safeguarding area while maintaining compliance with all regulations

  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations

Ability to:

  • Recognize, building, equipment and landscape maintenance and repair needs

  • Take appropriate action to repair and replace damaged area or tool

  • Mask and tape painting areas

  • Safely and effectively perform maintenance work and perform duties in all weather conditions

  • Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely, maintain and repair a broad range of plumbing fixtures and components pumps, valves, boiler systems, compressors, alarms systems and other items as assigned

  • Design, build, install and repair woodwork, flooring, ceiling and cabinetry

  • Recognize and select appropriate lumber types

  • Read and comprehend blue prints and diagrams

  • Perform skilled construction, modification, maintenance and repair work on assigned infrastructure, facilities, systems and/or assigned area

  • Operate specialized construction and maintenance, light to heavy vehicles and equipment

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

  • Interpret policies and procedures; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations
