POSITION TITLE: Coordinator, Safety

REPORTING TO: Manager, Health, Safety and Environmental

LOCATION: St. Albans, VT

This position reports to the HSE Manager and will play a vital role in ensuring practices, rules, policies and regulations related to health and safety standards and specifications at Barry Callebaut are in place and followed.

Observe all safety, sanitation, GMP and HACCP requirements

Provide initial new-hire safety training and follow-up

Attend all safety committee meetings, build and distribute meeting agenda, take meeting minutes and ensure all necessary paperwork is ready for the meetings

Conduct accident, incident and near-miss investigations and submit final RCA report to the HSE Manager

Participate in the continued development and implementation of Barry Callebaut safety programs such as lockout/tagout, fire protection, and other OSHA safety compliance programs

Participates in hazardous risk assessments and job safety analysts

Participate in plant wide HSE audits

Track and report on selected safety KPIs to the HSE Manager

Manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines

Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace

Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation

Assist HSE Manager with all safety-related meetings and projects

Assist HSE Manager with research, recordkeeping, training, and document management

Inform HSE Manager of all identified needs and issues

Obtain First Aid, CPR, AED certification to train workforce Maintain fire extinguisher, AED, and Eyewash monthly and annual inspections checks.

Qualifications:

High school diploma, or equivalent, required

5 years of safety-related work experience or OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred

Associates Degree in Business, Manufacturing, or equivalent, preferred

Knowledge of federal, state and industry safety requirements, such as OSHA, NFPA, Ansi and applicable environmental regulations, required
