Bon Secours Mercy Health MA Medical Assistant Cardiology Research in Springfield, Ohio

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Clinical Research Assistant independently manages the lab process for approximately 20 ongoing clinical trials with approximately 100 enrolled research participants. They are responsible for tracking milestones, redacting, and uploading documents for observational studies, data entry in the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS), Florence e-Regulatory system, and in Epic.

Essential Job Functions

  • ​Participates in site pre-qualification, initiation, and interim monitoring visits.

  • Ensures the most current lab protocol and correct kit are being used at each visit.

  • Inventories lab kits, ordering, and properly disposing of lab kits, as well as preparing lab kits

  • Performs phlebotomy, processes packages, and ships labs to the central lab associated.

  • Maintains the lab in keeping with regulatory oversight bodies (ie e.g., Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)).

  • Updates lab flow sheets with changes.

  • Partners with sub-investigators (i.e., Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, or Physician’s Assistants) to consent or reconsent patients enrolled in observational studies.

  • Assist with participant scheduling and other tasks in support of the clinical research operation

  • Coordinates with Lab, Infusion Center, Pathology.

Licensing/Certification

Certified Medical Assistant (required)

CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (required)

Hazardous Waste Management Certificate (preferred)

CPT Certified Phlebotomy Technician (preferred)

Education

Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting or an Associate of Applied Science in Health Science with a specialty in Medical Assisting (required)

Work Experience

2 years’ experience performing clinical responsibilities in an ambulatory or acute care setting (required)

Recent within 1 year experience in phlebotomy and lab processing (preferred)

Clinical research experience (preferred)

Experience in learning and following clinical protocols (preferred)

Training
