Army National Guard Units SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32) in Springfield, Missouri

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WG-5801-10 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1194000 in SPMD 5130 and is part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 11. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. Responsibilities Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non- automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Repairs a variety of complex major systems to include engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems. Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory check. Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - Warrant Officer: CW3 (W-3) Enlisted: CSM (E-9) Warrant Officer - 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 91, 92, 94, or 882A Enlisted - CMF 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92 or 94 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience which demonstrates your experience in diagnosing, repairing, overhauling and modifying a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles and equipment. The specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to repair or overhaul major components such as diesel, multi-fuel or gasoline engines, turbine engines, automatic and manual transmissions, drive line assemblies, electrical and electronic systems and accessories, fuel injection systems, and emission control systems. Experience that demonstrates your ability to utilize, interpret and apply parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, diagnostic computer information and schematics.
