The Impact Youll Make in this Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Drive continuous improvement in lean manufacturing operations.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity)
  • Driving cost and productivity improvements by leading Lean Six Sigma projects with a variety of toolsets, including: DMAIC, standard work development, tier reviews and kaizens
  • Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Proactively communicates project direction and status to appropriate personnel
  • Engagement and involvement in daily operations to meet service targets, including direction/support of maintenance and division engineering activities
  • Realize growth opportunities by guiding new product introduction efforts and completing experimental runs
  • Representing 3M Springfield Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division (IATD) during internal and external customer interactions and audits

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
  • One (1) year of experience in a manufacturing/production environment in a private, public, government or military

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated project leadership abilities on highly technical and complex projects
  • Ability to lead and contribute across a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in supporting new product development and commercialization
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma/Quality Improvement
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Microsoft Office proficient, Minitab a plus
  • Five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment (private, public, government or military)

Travel: May include up to up to 10% domestic
