Wayfinders Maintenance Worker in Springfield, Massachusetts

Maintenance Worker Interested in joining our team of dedicated professionals? Way Finders is currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker (Maintenance Technician I) in our Housing Support Services program. The Maintenance Worker will complete and assist with apartment turnovers, performing duties in units that are currently occupied or recently vacated by homeless families in shelters. The candidate will work fully onsite. A valid driver\'s license and reliable vehicle are required as regular travel in the region happens throughout the workday. Responsibilities include: Complete and provide assistance with apartment turnovers: trash and furniture removal, cleaning (sometimes heavy), painting, screen replacement, smoke and carbon monoxide detector installation, and minor repair work Accept furniture deliveries in a timely and professional manner, and set up furniture as needed; prepare units with necessary miscellaneous items to welcome new families into shelter Complete all work orders in a thorough and timely manner Assist with property/building inspections Show apartments/buildings to various inspectors and other officials, exterminators, and contractors as necessary; work alongside external partners as required and appropriate Report challenging turnovers to management in a timely fashion and collaborate on solutions, e.g. unemptied apartments, pest problems, abandoned pets Compete work order or repair documentation in a clear and timely manner Properly document and report all maintenance issues and code violations Manager supply procurement, including recordkeeping, inventory management, and tracking/reconciling store accounts Show apartments/buildings to various inspectors and other officials, exterminators, and contractors as necessary Perform all duties in accordance with proscribed safety procedures, using appropriate or required personal protective equipment Develop and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with owners/landlords, tenants, inspection representatives, vendors, and other stakeholders Requirements include: 2 years\' equivalent or related experience; a high school diploma (or equivalent) may substitute for some experience Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, cleaning processes (including deep cleanings), and performing simple mechanical repairs Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and simple diagrams Ability to complete basic forms and write basic correspondence when necessary Experience using diverse hand tools, simple power tools, and measuring instruments Experience with Microsoft Office and other computer/phone applications, and comfort learning new technologies Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team Demonstrated attention-to-detail in work performed Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred but not required Valid driver\'s license with acceptable driving record; reliable vehicle CORI Benefits include: Generous paid time-off \| 12+ holidays annually \| Health, dental, and vision insurance options \| Educational assistance \| Medical Reimbursement Account \| Dependent Care Account \| 403(b) retirement plan with employer match \| Life insurance \| Short-term and long-term disability insurance \| Transportation benefits \| Employee Assistance Program \| Annual staff picnic!
