Description:

Come join the Food & Nutrition team at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England! We are a member of the nationwide Trinity Health family, bringing compassionate care to our communities.

Position Purpose

The First Cook assists the Manager, Production/Chef in the operation of the hot food service function including scheduling and monitoring of workflow and supervision of cooking personnel.

What you will do

  • Prepare and cook hot food items using from scratch cooking methods, mixes and/or other convenient items, and ready to cook products.

  • Maintain productivity to meet department hot food needs as required by meal period schedules.

  • Clean and sanitize all cooking areas and equipment as instructed and as needed to meet department sanitation requirements.

  • Requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements and frequent lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires caution due to working around and with hot ovens, grills, steamers, broilers, sharp equipment and going in and out of walk-in refrigerators and freezers frequently.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • HS Diploma or GED

  • 3-5yrs of Relevant Cooking Experience

  • 1yr of Basic Training in Cooking Techniques

  • Completion of Certified Food Services
