Job Description

Oracle Labs is searching for an outstanding Machine Learning and AI researcher to join our research team. We are passionate about research that both advances science and has impact in the real world. You will be part of an amazing collaborative research team that publishes at the top venues in machine learning and AI. Our expertise includes tools for training deep learning models, language and code generation models, privacy preserving machine learning, probabilistic programming, inference performance optimization, and AI agents, just to name a few. Your contributions have the chance to create real impact on our products and advance science.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Research, design and implement novel large language models and training and inference algorithms

  • Create new datasets that push the limits of large language models

  • Publish original research

  • Open source high quality code and reproducible research

  • Collaborate with other team members and teams

  • Transfer technology to product groups

  • Collaborate with external researchers

What we need to see:

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Degree must be completed prior to joining

  • Strong background of theory and practice of large language models as well as machine learning and deep learning

  • Excellent programming and debug skills in Python, plus hands on experience with common machine learning frameworks, such as PyTorch

  • Experience in analyzing and collecting data from various sources

  • Outstanding research track record

  • Experience collaborating in a team environment on research projects

  • Excellent communication skills

US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
