The Salvation Army Office Coordinator (Spring Valley Corps) in Spring Valley, New York

Overview

Help ensure the administration of the corps office is properly organized and represents the Army well.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities :

  • Working with the Corps Officers, keeping the workflow of the main office running smoothly and efficiently.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Meet with clients seeking assistance and direct them to our Social Service Worker.

  • Identify and refer clients and others to Corps Officer for pastoral care when opportunities arrive.

  • Assist with the administration of seasonal fundraising projects.

  • Receive phone calls and office visitors. Ensure that proper information is given, calls are transferred, messages are delivered, and walk-in visitors are properly directed.

  • Help with the food pantry scheduling, making sure that necessary paperwork is received and properly completed.

  • Assist with initial financial intake and record keeping.

  • Assist to prepare weekly deposits, income paperwork, and bills for transfer to the Divisional Headquarters.

  • Give receipts for cash donations and payment of After School tuition given at the office.

  • Assist with preparing weekly timecard and payroll submission.

  • Assist with other-related tasks, as personal initiative requires and/or requested by the officers.

Christmas Ministry

  • As time allows input client information into databases, keeping all information confidential.

  • Make necessary phone calls to clients as needed.

  • Assist with Christmas Toy Drive and Distribution

  • Prepare mailings for the office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with one to two years of related experience required.

  • Strong communications skills (both written and verbal), positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, and dependability required.

  • Bilingual ability is prioritized.

  • High level of confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment is essential.

  • Must demonstrate empathy and compassion through action and speech.

  • Good organizational skills. Must pay attention to details.

  • Good computers skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal daily supervision and guidance.

  • A valid driver's license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
