Job Title: Advanced Wire Cutter

Department: Wire Processing

Report To: Production Supervisor

Job Statement: Use wire cutting machines to cut, strip, and terminate wires for

assemblies. Performs task in the areas of machine set up, machine

operation, and machine general maintenance. May also use manual

tools to cut and/or strip wire and cable. Works under direct supervision of

wire processing lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify proper specifications from cut sheets and job orders.

Manually and digitally, set up wire cutting machines to job specifications.

Basic maintenance and troubleshooting of wire cutting machines for proper setup and

operation.

Determine which applicator to use and learn how to set it up.

Learn how to set up inkjet program and run it.

Learn how to use a micrometer for crimp height checks on terminals.

Inspect products to ensure they are within specifications.

Minimize scrap through proper operation, maintenance, and set up of machines.

Communicate problems with machine operation and set up to supervisor.

Miscellaneous other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

OPTIONAL DUTIES

Stripe wire using wire striping machine.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Ability to see and differentiate colors. Corrected vision that allows reading of small

alphanumeric letters at a distance of 12-18 inches.

Ability to lift boxes and spools of wire up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work while standing, many tasks require standing all day.

Ability to maintain a brisk pace and meet generally accepted production rates.

Ability to multi-task.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience: High school education or relevant work experience

required. Ability to speak, read, and write English required. Mechanical skills/knowledge

and machine operation experience desirable. Knowledge of wire cutting/terminating

machine operation desirable.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to convert between fractions and decimal equivalents. Ability

to read a ruler to 1/64 of one inch.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete

variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety

of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Well lit, air conditioned, and heated facility with a moderate noise level. Wire/cable and terminal

debris and compressed air tools. While performing the essential duties of the job the employee

will stand on a concrete floor most of the time.

HAZARDS

Compressed air, electrical shock, rotating equipment, and cutting.

REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Safety glasses and steel toed or composite safety shoes. Hearing protection optional.
