FORWARD SERVICE CORP Upward Bound Instructor in SPOONER, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Conduct the UBMS program in compliance with TRIO regulations and legislation, EDGAR, OMB Circulars, Grant Application, Annual Performance Report, and the approved UBMS proposal to meet or exceed performance objectives. Conduct weekly visitations with participants in each target high school focused on academic tutoring, study skills, social skills, career exploration, financial aid, and post-secondary enrollment. Assist with recruitment and selection of program participants based upon verification of participants\' eligibility as directed by the Department of Education, develop recruiting materials (e.g., brochures, PowerPoint presentations, letters, and handouts), and maintain the required number of participants. Assist the Advisor to give informative presentations to potential participants and their parents, school staff, and relevant community organizations regarding the program and participant eligibility. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with school counselors, administration, support staff, and teachers. Work with school counselors to implement direct services provided to participants, including high school class selection, work-study and community service placements, ACT preparation, financial aid consultation, special events, career exploration, teaching study skills, academic intervention, and post-secondary institution selection and enrollment. Assist with planning and execution of campus, cultural, business, industry, and academic field trips. Help coordinate intensive instruction in mathematics/science and activities that provide students the opportunity to learn from mathematicians and scientists engaged in teaching or research. Assist with the arrangements for a five-week on-campus summer school program for approximately 30 participants, including the contract with a school campus for rooms, food, computer use, library use, and other extra activities; making room assignments; providing academic and enrichment classes, and defining daily schedules for participants and staff. Help develop and implement a theme-based summer curriculum in World Language, English, Science, and Math. Identify participants at risk of not meeting program objectives and provide appropriate program intervention. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor\'s degree in Education or related field, high school teaching experience, and one (1) plus years of work-related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Wisconsin Teaching License is preferred. Science and/or math background strongly preferred. Driving requirements: Must maintain a valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by our insurance carrier. The instructor is required to travel between East High School, La Follette High School, and Madison College. These trips are made by one or two staff, driving with no students in the vehicle. They drive their own or a company-leased vehicle. The instructor also drives students for field trips or special events (e.g., community service, campus visits, and educational experiences) using a company-leased vehicle. These trips could be for 1 to 15 students. Usually, these are single-day trips, but occasionally they are overnight trips. During the school year, there could be an average of one field trip a month. During the months of June and July, staff could be transporting students daily. Occasionally students are transported in August for work-study experiences.
