Exciting nonprofit seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team!

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in accounting is required along with two years of work-related experience.

  • This is a full-time position that offers excellent benefits, vacation days, paid holidays (available immediately), and more!

Description:

The staff accountant supports the accounting team in various day-to-day financial and record-keeping operations. This includes account reconciliations, accounts receivable, payroll processing, general accounting duties, accounts payable, and booking for the Affiliate State Organization (ASO).

  • Perform various account reconciliations

  • Research transaction history to resolve any unreconciled items

  • Process reports from mortgage company and record mortgage payments in QuickBooks

  • Review and verify that all donation receipts are in the database and are coded appropriately

  • Payroll processing

  • Posts cash, check, credit card, and ACH payment transactions to the correct bank account

  • Complete remote deposits

  • Invoice/Bill intra-entity transactions

  • Invoice tenants for utility bills

  • Generate ACH transactions through the bank website

  • Resolves outstanding A/R by examining client loan agreements, payment history and contacting clients

  • Collects on accounts by sending statement reminders and communicating with clients via phone, email, fax or mail

  • Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating transactions

  • Reconciles the accounts receivable ledger to subsidiary accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted

  • Maintains client accounts for current contact information

  • General Accounting Duties

  • Makes journal and ledger entries in QuickBooks and Excel as directed

  • Assists Accountant in A/P & A/R best practices and reconciling GL accounts

  • Produces monthly, quarterly, annual and special reports as directed

  • Assists with government fund reporting, forms, regulations and grant billing as directed

  • Ensures confidentiality and policy following in all aspects of accounting and homeowner issues

  • Preserves financial historical records by filing accounting documents

  • Maintains financial security by following internal accounting control
