Salary Range: $4,740 - $5,501

**Starting salary for this position is: $4,740 (Monthly)

Employees starting at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. An employee starting at anything higher than the entry step of the range will have salary step advancement after 12 months and every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase.**

About the Maintenance Mechanic 2 - HVAC in Training

Under general direction of the Trades Supervisor, this position performs a variety of skilled trades at a journey level. With an emphasis on HVAC, constructing, maintaining, modifying, or repairing HVAC system components including chillers, boilers, valves, and other items at Spokane Community College (SCC).

This position responds to calls and work orders on HVAC issues to evaluate issues and make necessary repairs. The position will monitor control systems and perform skilled work in the inspection, testing, installation and repair of piping and plumbing equipment and related HVAC components.

This is an in-training position that allows the employee to progress from the Maintenance Mechanic 2 classification to the HVAC Technician classification by demonstrating competencies and qualifications as defined in the in-training plan. If the employee does not successfully complete the in-training plan resulting in progression to an HVAC Technician within two years, this position will be terminated.

Duties & Responsibilities

Complete preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on buildings' HVAC equipment including air handlers, VAV boxes, valves, pumps, and motors. Change filters on HVAC equipment, compressors, boilers, cooling towers, etc. documenting all work. Travel to off-site campus locations as needed to perform HVAC related work. Evaluate heating and cooling problems, diagnose and make necessary repairs to HVAC equipment and systems. *

Install new control components including valves, actuators, sensors, and document HVAC control modifications at completion of projects. May need to coordinate with administrators, contractors, and other trades in implementing projects. *

Develop cost estimates for repairs and upgrades.
