Sutter Health Data Center Engineer II - Networking, Cabling, IT Deployment, Server, Storage, IS Troubleshooting in Sparks, Nevada

Position Overview:

This position will work onsite in Sparks, Nevada.

Interacts with Information Services (IS) support teams throughout Sutter Health and its regional affiliates as well as contractors and vendors ensuring IS equipment is installed, decommissioned and maintained in timely manner.

Maintains inventory and returns of spare parts.

Self Sufficiently handles incoming service requests.

Develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum while improving efficiency and implementing new strategies. Identifies, analyzes, and leads specification, configuration, and installation activities on approved hardware that complies with standards and procedures.

3-5yrs of experience desired.

• Computer-related work experience in data center operations

• Familiar with IP network environment and have experience with LANS/WANS.

• 2 or more years of experience with structured cabling and standards.

2 or more years of experience with IT Deployment and installation

• 3 to 5 years of experience in troubleshooting IS equipment, servers, network, storage, tape libraries, etc..

Understanding of service management principles and policies

Proficient in MS Office Suite. Knowledge of CAD (Computer Automated Design) or similar.

Ability to adapt and alter work hours to handle rotating on call and after hours demands.

Proficient in electrical distribution systems (UPS Systems, Transfer Switches, Generators, 3 Phase Power).

Communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Associate's: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent education/experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

2 years computer-related work experience in data center operations.

2 years with server engineering, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support.

1 year working with change management practices.

2 years with Internet Protocol (IP) network environments and Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs).

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Working knowledge of server operating systems, Citrix, visualization technologies, provisioning, monitoring, and inventory toolsets, directory services, and messaging/communication technologies.

Beginner’s knowledge of mainframe and server hardware, operating systems, networks, and communications protocols.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Familiar with Computer Automated Design (CAD).

Intermediate knowledge of networking and telecom equipment.

Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups such as: executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.

Analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures in order to identify relevant concerns and factors.

Pay Range is $25.42 to $36.86 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
