D.R. Horton, Inc.is currently looking for an *MMT-Loan Originator Assistant Unlicensed* in the Branch Department . A Loan Originator Assistant (LOA) works under the direct supervision of a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) or Branch Manager (BM). They are responsible for facilitating the accurate and timely completion of home real estate loan applications including making initial contact and follow-ups with clients, gathering information for underwriting, providing support throughout the mortgage loan application process, and performing administrative duties. The Loan Originator Assistant supports the Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) so that the MLO can focus on producing more volume and provide a higher level of customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate with parties to the transaction to update them on loan status
  • Track outstanding applications and loan documents and call customers to follow up on those documents
  • Scheduling appointments for the MLO
  • Assist the MLO in converting prequalification to applications in the LOS. This is strictly handling the administrative side of setting up the electronic loan package. The MLO should select product, loan terms, etc. and it should be in the MLO’s name in the LOS.
  • Assist MLO in preparing loan application documentation to submit to processing
  • Assist MLO in returning phone calls when appropriate. Only basic status updates or requests for information may be made. MLOA-Unlicensed is prohibited from communicating or negotiating loan terms, rates, etc. to a consumer
  • Monitor pipeline reports daily for status of applications and communicate with processors weekly/daily to make sure all loans are moving through the approval process
  • Occasionally provide initial “set up” of the file. i.e., order appraisal, title, verifications etc.
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlicensed Loan Originator Assistants – are prohibited from originating loan applications or communicating loan terms to the customer. If a customer requests information specific to loan origination, they are to be immediately referred to a licensed individual.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, earned within two years, from four-year college or university
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented with excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record large amounts of data.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to two years related experience and/or training preferred
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
