Dwight Arnold Farms Inc Farm Workers and Laborers; Crop in Southwick, Massachusetts

Date of Need: 5/1/2024 to 12/1/2024 Duties may include but are not limited to harvesting tobacco. Shade Tobacco Harvesting: Pick leaves from plants and place in bins. Drag bins to edge of field and load onto trailer. In shed, unload trailer and place leaves on tables. Use stringing machine to sew leaves onto strings and hang strung leaves in shed using benches and planks. After leaves have dried, remove from shed and pack into cartons. Broadleaf Tobacco Harvesting: Chop plants in field using hatchet, stick plants onto hook lathe on trailers. Hang lathe in sheds to dry. When dry, remove plants from lathe and pick leaves from stalks and pack into bundles. Duties may also include applying fertilizer, applying general use pesticides under the super vision of a licensed applicator, cleaning and handling harvested products. May set up, operate and repair farm equipment, repair tents and farm buildings, and may participate in irrigation activities. 1 month experience required in work listed.
