What You Will Do
As an Associate with St. John Health-MI, you will have the opportunity to be under direct supervision, performroutine and complex inspection, maintenance, repair, alteration and installation of hospital electrical systems equipment, fixtures and appliances in compliance with local, state, and national codes. The Master Electrician assigns work to and oversees the work of assigned maintenance mechanics. Pulls permits for jobs from city.
Demonstratepersonal commitment to the organization’s core values through active involvement in the quality improvement process.
Demonstratesafe work practices and attitudes, followsafety rules, workto prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participatein organizational and departmental safety programs.
Performpreventive maintenance on motors, transformers, emergency generators, fire alarm systems, pumps, and other electrical and electronic equipment on a regularly scheduled basis.
Respondto electrical trouble calls throughout the hospital.
Inspectand testall electrical systems and related electrical components, such as those associated with heating, cooling, power, lighting, and communications within the hospital, requiring the ability to read blue prints, diagrams, and equipment specifications. Usetesting instruments, such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, amp meters, and others.
Install, repair, alters, or replaceelectrical circuits and equipment, such as centrifuges, motors, intercom units, microphones, switches, wiring panels, projectors, recorders, and kitchen appliances.
Design, fabricate, and installspecialized electrical devices as required or requested.
Read, interpret, and/or prepareblueprints, diagrams, and job specifications.
Estimateand/or calculatetime, materials, and costs required for alterations, repairs, and installations.
Preparemonthly order lists for electrical supplies, equipment, and tools to maintain stockroom inventory, and for articles required for new or specialized construction and repairs.
Assignwork to and overseethe work of assigned maintenance mechanics.
Prepareregular or periodic statistics and reports regarding safety inspections and conducted, progress or completion of work assignments and projects; submitreports to supervisor.
Pullpermits for large electrical jobs from City of Southfield.
Performmiscellaneous duties not related to electric as required or as assigned.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Demonstrateeffective written and oral communication skills consistent with mission and values.
Demonstrateinterpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Demonstrateability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while performing tasks.
Demonstrateability to read, write and understand written and verbal communications. Demonstrateability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
Demonstrateability to walk and stand approximately 90% of work time, often lifting and positioning equipment and devices up to 60 lbs.
Ability to demonstrate friendly, courteous, professional customer service behaviors and provide service recovery in an accommodating manner consistently.
What You Will Need
Valid Michigan Drivers License required.
Master Electrician License - State of Michigan required.
High School graduate or equivalent required
Electrical training through on-the-job experience, trade school or military required
- Eight years experience in electrical work preferably in a health care setting required.
