About Astellas Gene Therapies

Astellas Gene Therapies is an Astellas Center of Excellence developing genetic medicines for patients with rare, life-threatening diseases. Based on our innovative approach to developing genetic medicines, as well as our industry-leading internal manufacturing capability and expertise, we have become the Astellas Center of Excellence for their newly-created Genetic Regulation Focus Area. The Role

The primary purpose of the Senior Research Associate in Bioanalytics is to analyze tissue samples taken from our nonclinical research studies dosed with gene therapy candidates. The Senior Research Associate will process tissues for critical endpoints, run analysis on the appropriate instrument, and analyze data outcomes. In addition, the Senior Research Associate will QC data, optimize protocols, and assist in new assay development.

Responsibilities

  • Extract protein, DNA and/or RNA from necropsied animal tissue

  • Run ddPCR, qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot etc analysis on tissue extracts

  • Cell culture, Neutralizing antibody assays and total antibody assays

  • Sample analysis assay optimization

  • SOP writing

  • Data recording and analysis

  • QC analysis

This position directly impacts preclinical outcomes including proof of concept, ED50, MED, clinical hold response and IND enabling studies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline with 5+ years of experience or a Master’s Degree with 3+ years of industry experience in molecular and cell biology techniques.

  • Ability to perform tissue extraction manually and on automated platforms

  • Proficient in qPCR & ddPCR

  • Proficient in RNA handling/storage and cDNA synthesis

  • Experienced using sterile technique and molecular assay handling

  • Proficient in QuantStudio Design and Analysis Software, QuantaSoft Software, and ImageJ

  • Experienced in quality control assessment

  • Experience in assay development/optimization

Preferred

  • Experience with Quality Assurance compliance and GLP-like procedures

  • Experience with SOP writing

  • Experience with Electronic Notebook Record Keeping

Working Conditions

This is a hands-on laboratory-based position that requires onsite work

Salary Range : $114,800 - $153,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
