Position details

Encoded is seeking a highly motivated and versatile individual to join our team as a Biorepository Research Operation Associate that will serve to provide BRP (Biorepository) support for early-stage gene therapy candidates.

Workplace Model: Onsite

Responsibilities

  • Learn Softmouse and Benchling software: sample/data tracking LIMS systems. Assists in inventory management and organization.

  • Scheduling, coordinating, and packing with CROs for outgoing shipments. Provides logistical and strategic planning.

  • Bioinformatics and data management skills- ensures data quality, maintains data integrity. Strong organizational support. Fulfills everyday operational requirements and collaborates with team members regarding project expectations and goals, delegating tasks, scheduling, and managing deadlines.

  • Collects and analyzes feedback from internal customers and project users to gauge satisfaction and success/ further develop our current systems of operation.

  • Protocol editing and coordination.

  • In Vivo Kit Preparation: labeling tubes, sending emails, sample organization in Benchling and Softmouse, vivarium pickups, data pushes, and scanning samples.

  • Translational Kit Preparation and assist helping the translational team after NHP shipments, labeling samples.

  • Aliquoting various sample types.

  • Sample requests and distributions from scientists to BRP and vice versa.

  • Helping with large shipments of tissues from CROs, scanning/confirming against manifest, and confirming manifest matches protocol for NHP studies in Benchling.

  • Consolidating freezers, maintaining freezer maps, and handling freezer alarms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or 2-4 years relevant experience.

  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a laboratory team.

  • Willing to work with potentially hazardous chemicals and biological materials or may be located in areas where such materials are used (safe lab practices are used).

  • Willing to work weekends or holidays as needed.

  • Basic knowledge of computer operations and ability to learn new software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Softmouse, Benchling, or other LIMS systems

  • GLP and CAP accreditation knowledge in AAV gene therapy space

  • Knowledge of proper handling of samples and safe lab practices

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in California is $71,500 - $81,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Encoded Therapeutics is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

A hired applicant may be eligible for an annual bonus as well as equity under the company’s stock plan.
