Job Summary

GMRE is looking for a part-time Entry Level Accountant to provide support to the finance team by performing daily accounting tasks. You will be a part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company's finances. The overall goal is to contribute to the efficiency of the finance teams operations and to help GMRE be fully aware of its financial condition. Under the supervision of the Controller, this position can expect to learn about government contracting, tracking expenses in the correct general ledger accounts and assist with other accounting activities, as needed. A strong candidate should possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable -- Post invoices daily
  • Post credit card transactions daily
  • Manage correspondence in accounting department email
  • Perform account reconciliations routinely
  • Purchase Order Processing -- Post purchase orders into the accounting system and help tie invoices to purchase order totals (Three-way match)
  • Audit and review travel expense reports to meet government invoicing guidelines

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Must have a basic understanding of GAAP, accounts payable/receivable, impacts of debits/credits in general ledger accounts and understand a chart of accounts
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and follow through on outstanding items
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance
  • Motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy

     

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Recent graduate preferred or actively working towards a bachelor's or master's in accounting.

     

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver's license is required

     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
