There is an anticipated vacancy for a Maintenance Mechanic I

Description:

  • Performs general commercial building repair and maintenance and does other duties as required, such as but not limited to snow removal, grounds work etc.

  • This class involves a variety of Building maintenance and repair tasks of a general nature. Employees of this class perform work in all of the building trades areas on a basic level and will work with the leadership of a Building Maintenance Mechanic II on larger or more complex projects. Incumbents perform their duties with some latitude for independent planning or laying out of the working details.

General Duties:

  • Performs repair and maintenance on floors, ceilings, walls, doors, windows, roofs etc. Takes part in a departmental preventive maintenance program and assists with grounds as necessary. This class will do snow removal and other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Abilities

  • Good knowledge of the systems that are in a modern commercial building and how they relate to each other to enable the building to operate.

  • Experience or certification in HVAC preferred

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience working in commercial building maintenance or two years of vocational school and two years of commercial building experience.
