Automation Engineer II OVERVIEW: The Automation Engineer II designs and manufactures automated equipment, jigs, fixtures, and machinery, and ensures all designs meet internal customer requirements and national and state safety standards. Works in a team-based environment towards developing and implementing the best manufacturing methods and processes for our products, including equipment, tooling, materials and facilities. WHAT YOU\'LL DO: Works as a part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team to ensure that projects assigned to the team are run to completion in accordance with the team\'s workflow procedures and approved schedules and budgets. Generates technical documentation for automated equipment, jigs, fixtures, and machinery. Leads project teams in the execution of machinery and automation building and/or integration projects. Designs and fabricates automated equipment, jigs, fixtures, and other machinery to assist manufacturing, engineering, and quality control. Specifies and sources parts and components for automated equipment, jigs, fixtures, and other machinery to be built, retrofitted, or rebuilt. Assists with plant layout, design, and workflow processes. Programs PLCs, sensors, relays, variable frequency and servo drives, and other industrial controllers and devices. Develops and implements assembly and detail drawings, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams, bills of materials, written work instructions, operation and maintenance procedures, flow charts, and other visual aids to streamline and standardize work procedures in a team-based environment. Specifies and sources parts and components for jigs, fixtures, and machinery. Trains technical and/or production staff in operating, maintaining, and repairing automation equipment. Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job. Performs additional duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor\'s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years\' experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment or an automation integration shop. Must have basic knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering principles and procedures. Must have a good working knowledge of Solid Edge 3D CAD training and drafting experience with AutoCAD. Must have the ability to diagnose equipment mechanical and electrical problems and apply troubleshooting techniques to resolving said problems. Must be familiar with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring devices such as multimeters. Uses mechanic and electrician hand tools, hand-held power-tools, and measurement devices and gauges as needed. Must have very good analytical and organizational skills and be detail oriented. Must have good written, presentation and verbal communication skills. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Actively supports and complies with Pelican?s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement. Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels. Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
