General information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its South Boston, Virginia location. This role is responsible for performing duties that involve or relate to such functions as planning, construction, maintenance, and inventory control of facilities and equipment. In this role, you will make recommendations to improve effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Obtain information from various sources such as managers, engineers and planners. Estimate requirements considering projected utilization, function, performance, costs and safety to assist senior staff in reaching conclusions. Prepare specifications and documents in accordance with requirements, established formats and specific instructions. Conduct relatively straight-forward analyses and tests. Participate in the investigation of technical problems and provide information and recommendations for reports. Evaluate such matters as equipment utilization, workflow, and unique requirements related to specific orders. Prepare layouts of equipment, workspace and storage facilities, for maximum effectiveness, as applicable. Responds to emergencies /breakdowns and reports all recurring problems with machinery, equipment and parts. Manages and updates technical documentation of equipment, production lines or facilities. Solves major technical, equipment or facilities problems in order to achieve higher performance of the production lines. Maintains tools and repair equipment in good working order. Proposes improvement projects for processes and production lines aimed at reducing ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and optimizing operational and energy efficiency.

Your background:

High School degree or GED equivalent required along with 0-2 years of Mechanical, Electrical and/or Fabrication skills and experience Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States. Associates or technical degree and along with 0-2 years of Mechanical, Electrical and/or Fabrication skills and experience Basic computer skills, to include SAP HVAC experience Welding experience Ability to operate industrial equipment, including cranes and forklifts Ability to read and understand blueprints and simple schematics Experience in lean manufacturing including 4Q, JIDOKA, 6S, etc. Experience in running conduit
