SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday, flexible schedule of 8 hours between 7a-5p. Occasional Saturday from April - October, 9a-1pm

PAY RATE

$41,000 to $45,000 annually

DESCRIPTION

Salary - $41,000 to $45,000 annually

JOB SUMMARY:Performs administrative duties as directed for Environmental Services/Organic Resources Facility (ORF). Must have excellent customer service skills. Must maintain the maintain all electronic and paper records for ORF relating to daily operation, Compost Registration, Biosolids Land Application and for the USCC and Compost Certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handles incoming telephone calls and routes them to appropriate person/department.
  • Runs the customer service window, takes payments and fields questions.
  • Answers questions directed to ORF by 311
  • Creates PO requests as needed and monitors budgets for parts and vendor services.
  • Tracks customer billing invoices and creates invoices monthly for payment by those customers.
  • Distributes all incoming US mail, interoffice mail and handles outgoing mail.
  • Tracks tons of trash removed from yard waste and maintain reports of those weights.
  • Types/edits correspondence, creates spreadsheets and reports for department as directed.
  • Records and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly records/reports for ORF.
  • Maintains and updates related records as required.
  • Radio dispatch of Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • Radio communication with other City departments.
  • Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate from high School and/or some college work or business course work in professional business practices including clerical, computer experience and customer service face to face or by telephone.
  • Three years of related work experience or any equivalent combination of related education and experiencein an office environment. A successful candidate must possess strong customer service, problem solving skills, proficient in grammar, with the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, high volume work environment.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheet and database management are a must.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of computers and of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic office procedures, ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
  • Ability to establish successful working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain orderly and accurate files, records, and reports.
  • Ability to perform required work without direct supervision.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:Telephone, computer, photocopier/fax/scanned document, 10 key calculator, base radio, various office tools and/or equipment.
