The RNs will perform nursing duties in the care of ill or injured residents and perform nursing assessments. They will administer medication and treatment, while supervising LPNs in executing physicians' orders and proper nursing procedures. RNs will investigate and report on unusual incidents involving resident care, and report residents' abnormal physical and mental reactions to the physician. They will interact with residents and families explaining treatment. RNs conduct formalized training sessions for professional and non-professional personnel, attend in-service training programs, and participate in drills for and respond to facility emergencies. They will take appropriate action if abuse or neglect (by staff, visitors, family or peers) occurs, to include protecting and supporting the resident, reporting and documenting the incident.
