Major Responsibilities Metallurgical sampling is performed according to specifications. Technical assistance is provided to manufacturing and support departments. Heat Treat inventory is organized and managed. Heat Treat preventive maintenance is scheduled and maintained. Key Job Responsibilities Report findings on testing & analysis according to established procedures. Cut and prepare samples; analyze and test sample for hardness/integrity which involves microstructure and microhardness traverses. Maintain instrument standards cross referenced to Joy Franklin and applicable national hardness and temperature references. Prepare and process all sample pins from carburize loads and complete in SAP Perform hardness checks on all quench and temper parts and complete in SAP. Maintain metallurgical records according to established procedures. Provide technical assistance for manufacturing operations and other departments. Order spare parts when necessary and maintain the inventory & organization of spare parts. Schedule, track and coordinate maintenance and repairs of the furnaces and related machines and maintain the metallurgy lab to maximize uptime and efficiency. Sprockets: run all required hardness analysis on the sprocket. Maintain hardness data base with all hardness results for each sprocket. Maintain all calibrations for the testing equipment in the met lab. Work closely with quality on any corrective actions that need to be done relating to heat treat issues. Serve as the backup to HT supervisor Qualifications/Requirements Minimum of five years experience in Heat Treat procedures Knowledge and understanding of Metallurgy and Chemistry An associates degree in Metallurgical Technology is preferred Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite Experience with SAP a plus Safety and Equipment Complies withKomatsu safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements. Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work condition, workplace incident or near miss. Maintains orderly workshop and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
