BIRD ELECTRONIC CORPORATION CNC Programmer in Solon, Ohio

*PURPOSE OF POSITION: *

Work closely with engineering to develop mechanical prototypes and basic documentation (sketches, lists of materials, etc.) to support the design of new products. Programs and sets up CNC milling, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications. Reads and interprets technical blueprints and design models and inputs the product design into the computer modeling software. Tests accuracy of settings and programs. 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS / SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Develop an environment of continual improvement through the use of Lean tools.
  2. Promote the Bird Family Values through your actions -- Trust, Innovation, Teamwork, Achievement and Accountability.
  3. Be able to describe the quality policy and goals, your contribution to quality, and the effects of not observing quality and customer requirements.
  4. Develop machine programs using MasterCam or similar software tool.
  5. Develop programs for punch press machines using Cadman software.
  6. Machine parts as directed by design and product development engineers for use as models or prototypes.
  7. Assist engineering with mechanical design and layout issues.
  8. Design and build tools and fixtures for Production assembly and machining.
  9. Assist in the design of test fixtures as directed.
  10. Provide additional assistance in the machine shop as required.
  11. Other duties as required.

     

 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  1. One to three years of mechanical design experience
  2. One to three years of machine programming using Cam tools
  3. Three or more years of setup and machining experience with mills, lathes, punch press, brake
  4. Preferred experience with Altium, Solid Edge, MasterCam, and Cadman software
