Job Description

Location/Division Specific Information:

This position is in the Cybersecurity Architecture team within Corporate Infrastructure & Security (CIS).

How will you make an impact?

As a Sr. Security Solutions Architect, you’ll be a part of our global Cybersecurity Architecture team and responsible for leading the design and development of Thermo Fisher’s internal security solutions, security automation and relevant pipelines. You will work with various internal and external team members to translate technical requirements into solution designs while ensuring the overall architecture of our security solutioning is built on a solid foundation.

What will you do?

  • Meet with various partners and internal technical teams to understand technical requirements, strategic cybersecurity targets, and translate them into actionable solutions.

  • Lead the implementation and prototyping of various security solutions and workflows using off-the-shelf tools, open-source platforms, and custom code.

  • Act as the primary cybersecurity consultant for workflow automation, event processing and orchestration related tasks, including definition of required monitoring, permission models and key management aspects.

  • Identify new workflows and opportunities for security enforcements, automations, visibility, and data enrichment.

  • Take an active role in overall Cybersecurity Information Management by ensuring data is well defined, structurally sound, and properly managed.

  • Mentor other architects and engineers in software development related tasks and create appropriate documentation and presentations as necessary.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or related field preferred. Candidates with equivalent work experience will be considered.

  • 7+ years of technical IT experience in software engineering, solution design, cybersecurity, or other similar field, in large and sophisticated environments.

  • Proven track record of process improvement and automation with hands-on software development experience with a security first approach.

  • Hands-on experience with various areas of IT such as cloud environments, identity and access management, networking, firewalls and monitoring. Experience with Amazon Web Services a big plus.

  • Experience with event-based automation platforms and security orchestration platforms, and familiarity with workflow automation tools such as Github Actions, Jenkins and Azure Pipelines strongly preferred.

  • Expert level experience with Python and at least one other programming language, and familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Understanding of typical security controls and solutions. Experience in operational cybersecurity highly desired.

  • Ability to translate high level definitions into detailed solution designs and implement when appropriate.
