Sodus Central School District Telecommunications Technician in Sodus, New York

  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs District Telephone System including running telephone cable, programming phone changes and maintaining and updating voicemail;

  • Trains staff in the use of voicemail and phone system;

  • Assists staff and students in preparing instructional material for classroom presentations (i.e. video editing, music, graphics, laminating and related materials)

  • Maintains audio visual equipment and repair including the PA system for each building;

  • Inventories and coordinates audio visual equipment and supply usage.;

  • Provides sound amplification and audio visual equipment for meetings, special events, and functions (i.e. graduation, drama/music events, sports banquets, Olympic Day);

  • Performs a variety of work related to audio visual, computer, and telephone equipment such as repair, maintenance and cleaning;

  • Supplies and maintains audio/visual equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Civil Service competitive class position which requires the candidate to be Civil Service certified.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Microcomputer Technology, Information Technology or related field; or

  • Associates degree in Telecommunication, Telecommunication Technology, Telephone Technology, Computer Networking, Information Technology, Audio Visual Technology, Electronic Technology, or related field with one year experience in the operation of a centralized telephone, preparation and operations or audio visual materials and equipment including cameras, projectors, sound and related equipment; or.

  • Graduation from high school and five years of experience as outlined above: or

  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits noted above in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th bulleted list shown here.

  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
