DESCRIPTION OF WORK There are two categories of Caseworker within our Children and Youth Services Department.

As an Intake Caseworker, an employee will investigate and assess reports and referrals within a time sensitive manner and determine whether to indicate unfounded and/or accept a family for services designed to prevent abuse.  The purpose of the Ongoing Caseworker is to coordinate and continually assess services designed to maintain children in their natural home or reunify them to their natural home and concurrently plan for permanent alternatives in the event the natural home environment is unable to provide adequate or safe care necessary for the child's welfare.

The holder of either position will work cooperatively in a team environment with other Caseworkers, Clerks, Aides, and Supervisors in an attempt to provide the best possible outcomes for children and families across the County.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Occasional nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. McKean County is located in North Central Pennsylvania.  We offer a competitive starting wage of $37,186.50 as well as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, 14 paid holidays, and a pension plan. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements: is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal his ory reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
