Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Program Manager in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) seeks a Program Manager (PM) to direct efforts supporting US Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science Center, (EROS) data center in Sioux Fall, South Dakota. In this role, the PM will be responsible for overall data center operations, maintenance and approximately 350 integrated staff, to include 24x7 operations staff. The PM directs, monitors, and controls all aspects of contract performance to ensure that all projects and tasks are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and cost parameters. The PM interfaces with customers to capture project requirements, obtains feedback on performance and presents status reports. The PM oversees development of project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, risk identification, contingency approaches, and allocation of available resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in physical science, math, engineering, computer science, remote sensing, earth science, or in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 15+ years of professional experience in managing groups over 50 personnel involved in science, engineering and technology support on government contracts

  • Ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation and collaboration

  • Experience in project management practices such as, portfolio management, strategic planning, risk assessment and mitigation, earned value management, and performance-based contracting

  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, risk management, and compliance

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Must be Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional, PMP certification

  • Experience in NASA, USGS, NOAA or, similar research institution environment

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure

  • Experience managing data center operations

  • Experience with Cloud migration and Cloud Maintenance

  • Knowledge and understanding of how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can be utilized to enhance and optimize data center operations.
