Summary

As an Electric Design Engineer 1, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and validate embedded electronic assemblies from concept through production to an end customer.

Essential Functions

  • Select appropriate components to meet design needs

  • Critically evaluate new and previous circuits for appropriate functionality and the ability to pass electrical qualification tests

  • Utilize simulation software and proof-of-concept prototypes as needed to validate new circuits and subsystems

  • Enter and review schematics and PCB layout

  • Document design to ensure proper operation and communicate design decisions and tradeoffs

  • Perform hardware validation, driver development, and support manufacturing programming and test flows

  • Support field returns and troubleshooting

  • Participate in reviews of schematics, layout, IO selection, and hardware requirements for others in the team

  • Track tasks and progress for planning purposes.

  • Work under supervision

    Qualifications

  • Entry level engineer with Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering field - Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of an internship in related field is preferred.

  • Specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in field related to position, as identified by department leadership.

  • Strong background with CAD tools for schematic and layout of PCB’s, Altium or Mentor Graphics experience is preferred

  • Proficient with C/C++, Linux, or related technologies.

  • Experience with scripting languages (i.e. TCL, Python, Bash) for vendor tool and test automation.

  • Preferred experience with Linux and basic networking

  • Ability to apply design theory and methodology.

  • Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

  • Travel may be necessary, based on position.

  • US Citizenship may be required, based on position.
