Structural Heart Business Mission: why we exist

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

Primary Function:

  • As a member of the Abbott Structural Heart Global Training Team, the APAC Training Manager will play a key role in implementing comprehensive training programs for both internal employees and external physician customers across Asia Pacific.

  • The primary focus will be on clinical field training and mentoring in Structural Intervention, Congenital Heart Disease and Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion. This includes the delivery of onboarding training for newly hired field employees as well as responsibility for a cadence of educational programs targeting different HCP stakeholders.

  • The geographic scope for the role covers all of APAC including Japan and China.

  • The Training Manager will also proactively assess the work of technical support and sales teams across the region on a regular basis to ensure compliance in line with standard operating procedures.

  • In addition to that the training manager will drive adherence to our training documentation obligations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Deliver new hire trainings for sales/clinical representatives and relevant internal employees

  • Plan and execute professional education events for healthcare professionals such as interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists interested in structural intervention.

  • Facilitate new account start up training and re-training where needed.

  • Implement internal staff training development programs with clear objectives and tracking.

  • Collaborate with the commercial team to align on priorities and strategic messaging

  • Maintain a professional and credible image with key physicians, consultants, and co-workers.

  • Ensure compliance in performing the training as required by the training SOP

  • Conduct systematic monthly tracking of program performance and trainee progress

  • Ensure proper documentation of all internal and external training activities on our online training documentation system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science/Nursing or related disciplines

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in medical devices industry (cardiovascular preferred), with minimum 3 years of experience in training/sales/marketing roles, preferably in Structural Heart/Structural Intervention.

  • Clinical expertise in areas of Structural Heart disease

  • Highly developed training, education and communication skills.

  • Ability to explain complex concepts to different stakeholders and strong influencing skills

  • Strong strategic, analytical and conceptual capabilities

  • Results and performance driven

  • Project management skills

  • Strong language skills in English (written & spoken), additional language proficiency in Mandarin/Japanese would be a plus due to nature of role which supports these countries.

  • Comfortable to work in Cath Lab setting in hospitals - will be required to comply with all applicable laws and Abbott internal procedures when being present in a Cath Lab. Such rule includes wearing certain health and safety protection devices, e.g., lead apron/jacket

  • Able to travel extensively for around 30-50% of the time
