Description

The Data Center Capacity Delivery team is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Commissioning organization as the South East (SE) Asia Commissioning Manager. You will manage a fast-moving, intelligent team of commissioning professionals delivering data center capacity to support Amazon’s growth in the Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia regions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a multi-city, or international team of highly skilled individuals. The candidate will possess mechanical, electrical, construction, project management background that enables him/her to undertake the challenges of ensuring the quality and reliability of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems to our customers. They will need to demonstrate the ability to think broadly and strategically in aligning commissioning program with the larger objectives of the business.

The SE Asia Commissioning Manager will be responsible for:

Leading Commissioning Engineers, having broad responsibility to hire and to build a high performing and capable team

Create a vision for the team and set priorities aligned with the goals for the larger organization

Understanding the technology and lifecycle of data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure

Leading cross-functional teams in commissioning for quality focused initiatives.

Utilizing your comprehensive knowledge of standards, related disciplines, company strategy and goals, to ensure a positive customer experience

Developing and managing metrics for quantifying performance within their region

Communicating and providing guidance to Finance during the development and execution of capital budgets

Delivering solutions to complex problems through in-depth data analysis and forensics by using methodical approaches, along with experience, innovation and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information

Understanding detailed implications of decisions and recommendations and be able to communicate recommended solutions to the product development team, all the way up through the executive leadership of the company

Aligning cross-functionally, influencing a broad spectrum of stakeholders to deliver on the quality policy

Create standards around which others will operate and build consensus

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering science OR 5+ years of related commissioning experience in lieu of a degree

5+ years of experience directly managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching commissioning management, engineering design, and/or commissioning professionals.

5+ years hiring, promoting, disciplining, and developing teams of professional engineering staff

3+ years of vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with commissioning and project execution

Ability and willingness to travel domestic and internationally.

Candidate must have business level of English

Understand mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems

Understand electrical infrastructure principles for critical facilities

Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers

Experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale data centers

Ability to define data center system-level architecture, specify/document performance and equipment requirements, create/communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain project documentation.

Ability and willingness to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration with no impact on quality and reliability.

Perform business case analysis to justify project scope and financial position for management review

Knowledge and experience with large scale mechanical and electrical systems

Possess clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions

Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
