Manulife Assistant Manager, Finance (MFA) in Singapore, Singapore

The Opportunity

This is a role under Manulife Financial Advisers (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Manulife Singapore Pte Ltd. We are looking to hire an experienced finance talent to fill the position of Assistant Manager, Finance.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience

  • At least 5 years of accounting and auditing experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial position, preferably relevant experience in an insurance intermediary

  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and excellent analytical skills

  • Self-starter and team player with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, synthesize, organize and report information

  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications

On the job, you will...

  • Set up, document and maintain proper accounting system, process and reconciliation to administration system for computation, payment and accounting of agency compensation and benefits

  • Set up, document and maintain proper accounting and internal controls for all collections and payments

  • Preparation and review of monthly reconciliation of balance sheet schedules and ensure that outstanding items are investigated and resolved

  • Review payment, invoice, journal, consolidated income statement for agents and third-party plan code set up in system

  • Responsible for monthly commission and expenses closing

  • Preparation of income tax and GST computation and liaise with tax agent for accurate and timely submission to IRAS

  • Preparation of financial statements and statutory reports to ensure accurate and timely submission to regulators such as MAS and ACRA

  • Provide guidance and support to junior staffs

  • Handle commission and service fee related enquiries

  • Liaise with third-party insurers on commission related matters

  • Liaise with bank on all banking related matters

  • Liaise with head/regional office on monthly inter-company billing

  • Liaise with others department on event costing

  • Review of outstanding debts from agents

  • Carry out any project or assignment as directed by management
